So today I found out I have cancer. Melanoma, stage 1, maybe 2. From a mole on my back. And all I can think is, I'm only 17. This is the last thing I need. 'Cause school's getting harder and harder. And I care less and less. And I'm feeling worse and worse. Six medications a day already. Cancer is the last thing I need. Everything is piling up, nothing will go away. And I'm less sure every day that I'm going to make it through. But no matter how many times I wonder about jumping off my bridge onto the rocks, no matter how many times I wonder how much it would hurt to stick my fingers into a metal fan, no matter how many times I wonder if you

Day of Silence

0 min read
I know this is way late, but I figured I should write something. As the junior class gay person (since apparently we have no other gay people in my grade) and hopeful cofounder of our school's GSA, I took it upon myself to inform our school about the Day of Silence. I art attacked the whole place. I made drawings and put information about the Day of Silence on small pieces of paper, and left about sixty of them folded up around the school. People are nosy, so they picked them up and looked at them. I was only three periods into the day when I started hearing about it. The homophobic guys in my grade started talking about how stupid it was.

Thank you for the favorite! :)
No problem. I saw your comment on humon's journal and I loved your ID icon, so I decided to check out your page. Your deviations are very cool. I lost a couple of friends over the Day of Silence, and I was thinking, "I'm just gay, not trying to rape you."
Tell me about it? :o
It wasn't anyone I was all that close to, but there were some kids at my school who were very religious or very homophobic and were ripping up all of the Day of Silence flyers. I was wearing a lot of rainbow and a lesbian pin, and a got a lot of hate for that (although nothing to my face). Since then, most of the people I'm not good friends with have refused to acknowledge my existence. I was gay before, and I'm gay now. The only difference is that they know about it. There aren't a lot of people who are out at my school, and most of them are more or less social outcasts.
